I am planning to make an encoder for my tool changer:

I was going to drill holes into a disk with a binary bit pattern and
clock bit. It's not very elegant and larger than I like. Does anyone
know of an existing (inexpensive) absolute encoder that would work?

 I don't know if it's better to have an arm or move the whole carousel?

I've also noticed that the taper on NMBT40 is the same as CAT40, so if I
could come up with a stud puller in place of my power draw bar, I could
use the more common CAT holders. Just a thought.)
