You do not need a bounty system or anything along that line. A commercial venture can be formed and the development of the software can be co-sponsored with services provided. Software enhancements would have to be shared as it is right now. No harm done, and the best beta testing in the world. Win win and no exploitation. The same way larger open source products are maintained. MySQL is free but one can sign up for support and other services which are incidental to the software developed jointly. I do not see a single problem with that.
