Being new to PC hardware too, I'm trying to figure out how the picoPSU mentioned at the bottom of this page: http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emcinfo.pl?Hardware_Requirements and which looks like this: http://www.idotpc.com/thestore/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=10&idproduct=262 manages to power a HDD & CDROM as well as the mobo?
I've looked (maybe just not hard enough?) for a 24-pin ATX female to 24-pin ATX male + 2*(4-pin peripheral) or even remotely similar splitter cable, to hook it all up. The picoPSU is a compact option, and therefore attractive, but so far the only suitable power cables I've found are attached to boxy power supplies, usually with inconvenient fan venting arrangements. Any hint would be much appreciated, otherwise I'll have to go for a bigger case, to accommodate a big boxed PSU. (At least they have over-voltage and other protection built in, I read.
