Hi Michael,

The Sherline flycutter has a # 1 morse taper mount to fit right in the 
headstock which is probably the best solution on a small machine for rigidity.  
I wonder if the shanks of the sets you see online are hardened?  If not you 
could machine them down to a more manageable size, or if you're feeeling 
adventurous machine a #1 morse taper into the half inch shank.

Almost all of them are 1/2" shank.  The largest shank I can currently  
use is 5/16.   I could get a holder for 3/8.. I don't know if I can or
