Can you get to the front page by removing the path so /gene in the end of it?

If not, I can attach the joypad_v3.hal that I modified to an email.  The rest 
is basically just following the wiki's directions from the link I also posted.

I'm sorry this has turned into such a disaster for you, my apologies.  I just 
called a friend about 10 miles away, and when he gets his mother into bed (she 
is 94 and getting a little frail), he will check and see if he can access it 
from his linux boxes.
