I really should have mentioned that in my reply to Rondal.  But actually 
having the network available on my machine is such an advantage over the long 
haul that dos2unix completely slipped my mind.  'tr' also could do that, but 
the syntax has always been a problem child to me so I wouldn't foist that off 
on a *nix new bee.

If Rondal runs a net cable to it, he will wonder how he ever got by without 
it.  Just the ability to fire up an IRC client, and send it off to 
irc.freenode.net & /join  #emc, and actually have an excellent chance of 
talking directly to the guys that write this stuff, will get you answers, 
often in just 2 or 3 minutes.
