You could run a servo system with a controller board badly with a 380 MHz CPU, but even that is going to be very sluggish, due to the demands Axis creates by doing the preview screen. If you turn off the Axis preview screen (I don't know how, but I think there is a key to switch to big numbers for the coordinates) or use TkEMC or Mini as the GUI, you will help somewhat.
But, if using software generated steps (stepgen) then it is nearly hopelsss to use such a slow computer. The amount of memory is not a problem, I run most of my systems with 256 MB.
