Hi, I hope you can help us. We are creating a post processor to suit the EMC2
for a new CAM system to the market - SharpCam: http://www.sharpcam.co.uk
We have a technology that sits on top of the post that allows the user to
configure simple properties to suit their machine. This means that one post can
cover many EMC2 machines that have subtle differences.
For example I see from the documentation that line numbers are optional. This
is a good candidate for a configurable property. The user can just selected
their choice from a drop down box.
I have a few questions that I hope some of you guru's would possibly be so kind
to help me with!
1. What are the possible ways to retract the Z axis for an ATC (manual or
auto)? Should we offer choices like G53, G28, G30 or may be even G49 Z0?
2. Should G84 be used for non rigid tapping, the docs say it is unimplemented.
3. Rigid tapping, is this correct for a 1mm pitch thread:
G90 G0 G54 X0 Y0 M3 S500
G43 Z2
G33 K1
G33 X50 K1
G33 X75 K1
G33 X100 K1
Do G98, G99 work? Is K modal?
4. Can a tool be pre selected?
Thank you very much for your time.
We really want to create a post that is spot on for all EMC2 users, so no
editing of the Nc code is required.
Julian
