All theses lower quality product issues will end up bitting us all globally.
When I first started in the trade a 20 year old machine was considered just nicely broken in. Now many of us have been scooping up 20yr old CNC machines at bargain basement prices as EMC2 retro fit candidates. Most the electronics are fairly sound save for maybe some dried out capacitors and such. Now the World is embracing the RoHS Kool-Aid and plumitting MTBF and escalating DOA numbers for electronic assemblies are hurting profits if not outright killing some business due to warranty repair costs. In a generation or two there won't be any usable hand me downs as far as machine tools go at this rate. So now for a brighter topic - any chance the new tool table format might include geometry + wear? I had heard mention some changes were planned.
