hi chrisinnanaimo, thank you for replying, I'm sorry I couldn't answer
sooner but the e-mails were coming in faster than I could cope with.  John
Elson told me to run glxgears, which I did once I found out where it was and
it worked fine showing that it could run opengl programs. Although I've used
ubuntu  since feisty fawn came out I never really got into Linux I just used
the programs as you would with windows xp just clicking on every thing with
the mouse. Thanks again for trying, John Dunn
