Gentle persons: Thank you, Alex, Moses, and all the EMC2 team for keeping us moving forward.
Three small points... 1. I suggest you update the home page for http://wiki.linuxcnc.org soonest to reflect what's shown in the sidebar on the home page for http://www.linuxcnc.org. > Step 1: Download the iso from: > > http://www.linuxcnc.org/lucid/ubuntu-10.04-linuxcnc1-i386.iso > > (note: this URL might change in the future, reference > > http://www.linuxcnc.org/ for the latest download link, and for a > > description > > of known problems). 2. Generally I endorse keeping as many options open as possible, but with three different places to post bugs, I suspect a bit of confusion will creep into the process as some people look in bin A, some in bin B, and some in bin C. I'd rather have only one place to look to see if others are having a problem I'm having, but I can live with three. Let's just all keep our cool in the early stages of mass testing. > > == Reporting problems& getting help == > > > > Reporting issues/problems/nags/ideas for improvements or anything else, > > can > > be done via email (on this list), via IRC (#emc-devel on irc.freenode.net) > > or via bug-reports at: > > http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=6744&atid=106744 > > > > Thanks for your patience, and for all the help to make it another great > > release. > > > > Best regards, > > Alex Joni > > 3. For me, at least, the most compelling motivation for keeping up with the Ubuntu LTS releases is the access to new hardware support in the linux kernel and its modules. My Google skills are getting rusty. Does anyone know a better summary of new kernel features than the pages posted on kernelnewbies.org (e.g., http://kernelnewbies.org/Linux_2_6_32)? I suggest we post a link to them or whatever is better on our sites to help EMC2 users in their "do I/don't I" decision to upgrade. These are just the usual KentNits (as my staff used to call them). I'm downloading the new LiveCD now and can't wait to take it for a test spin tonight.
