G540 drops current to 70% when idle automatically. Specs I've seen from largest Chinese manufacturer of stepper motors have insulation rated to 130 deg C. and reckon 110C is max continuous running temp! The Z axis stepper on my mill gets to 90C sometimes. I have a self adhesive temperature strip on it because I was worried it was too hot, but after reading the spec sheet, it doesn't concern me - other than don't touch it, it burns :) Steve Blackmore -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The ultimate all-in-one performance toolkit: Intel(R) Parallel Studio XE: Pinpoint memory and threading errors before they happen.
