We don't have a lot of EMC2 experience with combined spindle/axes.
Several schemes have been suggested for how to switch back and forth 
between a
spindle and a C axis.  I think a couple people have done it.  Certainly, 
EMC2 could
be set up to do spindle orient for tool change, mostly you jog the 
spindle very slowly while watching a sensor for alignment.  But, the 
basic EMC2 configs right now don't have a default setup for
switching between a spindle (command speed with the S word, turn on and 
off with
M03 - M05) and a C axis (command position with G01 C123.4 F5).  I think 
it can be done,
perhaps a little crudely, with general HAL components, though.  Might 
need a pair of misc codes
to do the mode switch.
