Searches in the search box on the left of the www.linuxcnc.org front
page search the documentation, the forum the mailing list and the
wiki.

The parport input pins almost certainly have a weak internal pull-up.
You will probably find that simply switching an input pin to
ground/earth or not doing will give you the input you require.
