One thing that comes to mind, X doesn't always (rather doesn't often) do a good job configuring itself. It may help to try an AGP or PCI display card to see if this allows the DVD to boot all the way. Sometimes an old bare-bones card works best. If so, you may be able to install EMC2/Unbuntu then add and configure the /etc/X11/xorg.conf to get the motherboard display controller to work. One change might be to force X to use the generic vesa driver. I often need to look up the specifications of the monitor and enter the numbers for HORIZSYNC and VERTREFRESH in order to get resolutions above 800 x 600. The methods that seem to work seem to change with each Ubuntu revision. -- Kirk Wallace http://www.wallacecompany.com/machine_shop/ http://www.wallacecompany.com/E45/index.html California, USA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Benefiting from Server Virtualization: Beyond Initial Workload Consolidation -- Increasing the use of server virtualization is a top priority.Virtualization can reduce costs, simplify management, and improve application availability and disaster protection.
