Your experience might be very useful! There's similar machine at my job, and I plan to retrofit it. IIRC it's 6R13F3, with manual spindle gearbox and w/o toolchanger. It might have the same motors and drives (probably DC servos). We also have this 4-axis 12 tonn monster like this http://stanki.stanker.su/catalog/stan_84/ , but it's not necessary yet.
