Without the real one in hand for comparisons Neil, I have no clue. But since we only have 5 or 6 basic chips that can do micro-stepping, it follows that the makers will choose one for each size and run with it. In which case the overall quality and life will likely be determined by the quality of electrolytic capacitors they were able to buy off the street vendor in front of the building for the lowest price. ;-) And those that go the extra mile and put a .1 paper/mylar/ceramic cap across the usual electrolytic of 470-1000 uf, should have a hands down advantage over the ones that don't. It is extremely important to have that sub-microsecond bypassing available in a pulse width regulated circuit as it can reduce the peak voltage stress on the switching devices by several very important volts. If, when these get here, they do not have that, bet the farm that by the time I fire one up, there will be something of that nature pasted on the bottom of the input filter cap. The presence/lack thereof, will be noted in my msgs as I bring it back to life. Promise. > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > ------ Got Input?
