Yes, in fact it _might_ be as simple as running menuconfig or xconfig to change a switch using the the existing EMC2 kernel configuration and files. I am not entirely sure if the LiveCD install includes all the required files, or if you have to download a kernel, apply the RTAI patches, find the EMC2 kernel config, edit it, and recompile.
