I use an 8 GB SSD as a boot device in my ISDN monitor, an old, slowed down Pentium PC. The "disc" has been created once, and now it only gets written on when a telephone call occurs, maybe a couple of times a day. So I think, I have a "reliable" storage without moving parts, fans etc. at low power consumption. For other stationary services I would not recommend SSDs.
