And, I'll third the MW525 motherboard.

Remember to turn off hyper-threading in the bios, though.

It is my first linuxcnc machine, and the install (with gecko g540) went 
incredibly well. 

I think that the memory i purchased was something like $14.99 or so for each 
2meg module; I could be wrong, but I maxed out the RAM, and was very pleasantly 
surprised to have it come out so inexpensively.

I do have a real drive, though!
