Grumble Ed? I'd be questioning their breeding practices. Bananna jacks
were supposedly a standard sized (2 sizes actually, there is a 50 amp rated
size too) item before I was born, probably by 30 or more years. So was the
3/4" spacing, standardized somewhat later I believe by General Radio for
locations that didn't need their sexless coaxial connector. That was a
most ingenious design, and should have been more popular unless GR wasn't
licensing the patent for a RAND fee. With GR's legendary attitude about
such things I expect they wanted a nice fat per unit royalty. I think the
only other test gear maker using it was Empire Devices, who eventually
disappeared into the gaping maw of of the Singer Sewing Machine Company.

This 'close enough for the girls I go with' attitude by offshore makers has
been a PIMA for me for 60 years.

You were lucky with that power supply. With my luck, the drill would have
hung, the post would have spun in the panel, and things would have gotten
very frustrated very quickly.

The lack of a side hole, would have me checking the Pomona catalog for a
suitable replacement anyway. I doubt if a suitable hole could be drilled
in the existing one without its removal from the panel, and the use of one
of my carbide pcb drills in the mill, with the post held in a vice. Any
other method and you would become acquainted with the difficulty of
drilling a small hole in a small round object. The normal drill walks off
center.

Now that is a grumble and my wife leaves because she has seen what comes
next. ;)

Cheers, Gene
