I didn't realize that General Numerics was a joint deal between Fanuc and Siemens. http://www.cnc1.com/News/customer-files/CNC_eNewsletter_Sep_2010.pdf
It looks like there are encoders on the spindle and motor - last page of that one document. I first got involved with Siemens in 1992 after the demise of General Numerics. If the drives and motors are ok, that could be a good machine to convert to LinuxCNC. Yep, bubble memory - that is mid to late 70's stuff. Wasn't that the next great thing after core memory?? That was high tech! ;-) Dave On 3/18/2012 4:31 PM, Roger Holmquist wrote: > 18 mar 2012 kl. 21:39 skrev [email protected]: > > >> Not many neighbors to bother you.. ;-) >> >> Do you have good electrical power service there? >> >> Dave >> > > Well, Dave I did ask the question but I havn't got any answer yet. > Just visited the place once recently and the machines were indeed > humming! > There is also an issue when there is thunderbolts in the air I suppose. > I guess you have to close down when there is such weather... > > > About the age of the Storebro 260 it should be around the beginning > of the eighties. > I have found an upgrade card from MEMEX for "FANUC series 6,11 and 12" > and they are taking about "the old Bubble memory unit" ! > That means old ;-) > > BTW, just looked closer to the MEMEX-pdf and found out that they > indeed have some FANUC data in it's appendix! > I put the MEMEX-pdf on my site if you want to have a look: > http://abcnc.se/docs/memexFanuc6_upgrade.pdf > > There might of course be a possibility that the machine is upgraded... > > About the connection to Siemens the boss told me they did cooperate > briefly in the eighties... > > About the encoders I will look att that, going there on Wednesday. > > > / Roger > > > ----------- > abCNC > ----------- > Roger Holmquist > Bockarp villa Tallebo > 59592 Mjölby > +46-706-250123 > +46-768-788477 > +46-142-20542 > [email protected] > http://abcnc.se > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > This SF email is sponsosred by: > Try Windows Azure free for 90 days Click Here > http://p.sf.net/sfu/sfd2d-msazure > _______________________________________________ > Emc-users mailing list > [email protected] > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This SF email is sponsosred by: Try Windows Azure free for 90 days Click Here http://p.sf.net/sfu/sfd2d-msazure _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
