There is a reason for doing so - retaining history. Where? I was ignored on IRC when I asked where I should post the logs from setting debug=7FFFFFFF. So I have done nothing with that file, although I should rename it so its not destroyed the next time I start it after resetting debug=0, which I haven't done yet.
