Hi John

There are two quirks that i know of:
there can be no spaces in front of the setp command (or, I amagine, the INI 
entry)
And it seems the substitution variables must be in the first HAL file 
referenced in the INI file.

Only the setp lines with substitution variables need be in the first HAL file. 
eg.

setp ppmc.0.encoder.00.scale [AXIS_0]INPUT_SCALE

Those pins should be present after loading the ppmc component no?
