I also have a G320X hooked up to a Keling motor (KL34-180-90 from memory) and a CUI encoder. I have been unable to tune it. It will occasionally (1 in 200 attempts or less) gain servo lock. I had assumed that I was doing something wrong, and consigned all three to the big bin o' parts. Reading Jon's post, I'm tempted to try another encoder on there and see if that resolves the problem. Or possibly a different drive. I've been planning to try the granite VSD-XE for a while, but keep thinking 'but the argon is coming soon'.
