Not at home - but I think the include for the io.h should be sys/io.h, not 
asm/io.h - 

#include <sys/io.h>

seems to be what people use now, according to our friend, Google.


My version on this machine? Ubuntu  - 10.04 ?? The one from the DVD/CD install 
- that's stock 10.04, IIRC.

The specific issue was that I have a Mesa 5i25, but using the parallel port on 
motherboard, solely for input for my MPG.

I most likely could use the 2nd port on the 5i25 for input, but the case is 
full, and the motherboard parallel port was there looking lonesome.


This is certainly not your (Pico Systems) issue, nor one from Mesa,  but just 
one of those random holes that one can fall in, and your example code and 
explanation of the motherboard parallel port issue was spot on, and helped me 
exactly when I needed help.
