I can't read the firmware date on the EPROM on the encoder board, it is a little paper label on the chip at U2. You don't want an older motherboard, you want to bring your PPMC MB up to date. Older PC motherboards will have slower CPUs, limited memory, and other problems that will make them less and less usable with newer versions of LinuxCNC. So, you might send the encoder, DIO and motherboard, and I will update them, no charge.
