Andy, I can commiserate but I can't say more without information about your machines. First, to rule out the interhost communications as the problem and assuming host1 is the machine running LinuxCNC and host2 is the X-server machine (keyboard, mouse, display): on host2 in a terminal window: ssh -X host1 on host2 in the same terminal window: complete the login to host1 on host2 in the same terminal window and at a command line prompt on host1: glxgears Does a window with the title glxgears open on host2 and glxgears display in it?
