That sure would be something to try, but 6mm isn't available without buying
blind on the net, which I'm sure lots of us do. I find .240" exactly isn't
usable as the production run primer isn't often that round. I have
measured winchester/remington/CCI and found them as much as 17 thousandths
out of round. Paper/plastic shotgun hulls don't seem to care as they are
pretty compliant. The steel nipple is not so forgiving. So my final pass
often measures .243 to .244 in diameter, then most of them will fit.

This is also a case of making them (the 209 nipples) one at a time for me
as I expect I'd need an FFL to make them commercially. Making them
commercially also involves convincing the Joe Sixpacks out there that my
stuff is better than the OEM stuff. Not bloody likely in most cases, but
my final 5 shots this after noon had 3 of them in one ragged hole. The
chronograph said from 1450 to 1527 fps at 80gr of Blackhorn 209 for powder,
and the Canadien 300gr swaged hollow point, boat tailed pure lead bullet
with a sabot. I started out and shot a card of 270Gr powerbelts, but they
were all over the 4' wide mine belting behind my targets. For a card full,
I think 6 were actually on the cardboard backer, with 4 on the paper target
itself. Crap, undersized for easy loading bullets. You get what you pay
for, no exceptions.

But thats one of the better ideas, next time I buy tooling, I'll see if
they have a 6mm or 4 I can throw into the order.

Thanks Steve.

Cheers, Gene
