I'm looking for rollers, wheels or bearings with a pointed edge to run in a slot, but all I find are V groove wheels made to run along a pointed edge rail.
I'm building a XY gantry from 4040 extrusion and some delrin or urethane wheels that can use the slots in the extrusion would be perfect for this design. It will be low stress because the gantry will just be guiding a self supported 2 joint arm in a 2D plane. Yup, that pattern follower torch I've posted about before. Surprising to me that these things haven't been CNC retrofitted many times already. Got a computer for free, $74 for three 9 foot pieces of surplus 4040 and a bunch of t-nuts, bolts and brackets.
