Ooh, how about this: Does this machine have a network connection, and if 
so are you running ntp on it, and if so does ntp keep having to adjust 
your clock?

That might indicate some kind of super-low-level pausing that's 
invisible to the clock counter that triggers the "unexpected realtime 
delay" error.
