It sounds like you are talking about picoPSU units 
(http://www.mini-box.com). I was happy to use a pigtail AC-DC power 
adapter ("brick") with mine. Mini-Box carries a variety as do others. It 
that's not an acceptable solution them I would be interested in hearing 
what you finally incorporate.
