Hello group. I'm new to this forum, CNC and Linux, so please excuse my relative ignorance on all fronts. I'm in need of some assistance as I've run out of ideas on how to resolve this problem:
I've downloaded the live disc image (ubuntu-10.04-linuxcnc.i386.iso) and done the checksum – everything OK. Using the suggested burning software, I've burnt to a CD. I've also done a checksum on this to see that the image is the same. Again OK. Now, using the CD to boot my PC- having set the boot sequence to CD first, it just seems to ignore the CD and continues to boot to windows. I've tried this on three machines, one an Intel core 2, one an older AMD both operating with XP and an older Toshiba laptop with 2000. All give exactly the same result. To me, this implies the disc is not booting – where have I gone wrong? Many thanks in anticipation.
