*NOT* ok:) You do NOT want to burn the image to a CD so that its still one file. It sounds like thats what you did since the "checksum is the same". If you burn it to the CD correctly, the checksum ISN'T the same as there is no one file to even take a checksum on. It extracts into thousands of smaller files. Very much like a .zip archive. So try again w/ another CD and instead of just burning the one file to the CD, there is an option in your software somewhere to "burn an image to CD". Select the .iso image and let it do its thing.
