To use more than 4 gigs of ram you need either a 64-bit kernel or a 32-bit 
kernel with pae.

Neither is likely to be developed for LinuxCNC 2.5 on Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid.  The 
RTOS work that Michael and Zultron are doing should get us a 64-bit kernel for 
Lucid and Precise for 2.6.
