True as long as you only loosen one side, but the same can be said for the better Weaver style mounts that only have the loose shoe on one side, the other sides hook to the base is machined solid. The trick is to make sure they are on well aligned or one piece bases, install the rings and tighten, then the scope and top rings. That will usually go back to within a minute on the paper out yonder.
