Yes, they can be threaded, but melting them into the existing thread, on 
an unworn section of the screw, ensures the most precise fit. It's 
essentially the same as using Moglice to reline half nuts on a lathe.

I've done that on two lathes so far and it works great, no slop in the 
threading feed now.
