Thats the 2nd half of my problem, I only have a 28 volt, 11 amp switcher in that box for the mill. So under load, 10-12 ipm is a good speed. But I don't have spindle torque to go any faster doing a .015" depth of cut anyway. I do have some transformers that would make a 38v supply, but since the mill might have a 4th motor, I'd have to use 2 of them to split the heat. One runs the lathes 2 motors fairly well, z can rapid at 60 ipm. I'm in favor of choke input type filtering, wit its better regulation but finding suitable hi amp rated chokes with enough henries to work well is a problem, there do not seem to be any in the surplus channels at all. These days, once you get past the 50 watt level, there isn't a heck of a lot of choices for analog supplies so a 500 watter is hard to even come by the parts for. > I'm still learning how much to push it now that I have (finally) found > good carbide end mills, replacing the ones picked up over the last 20 > years. I've been getting my smaller stuff from Midwest Circuit Supply, but probably am paying too much if the fleabay stuff is actually sharp and not somebody's used stuff. Bigger, 1/4" from Hemly, but again I've not tried the fleabay equ's. Opinions? > Regards - John. Cheers, Gene -- "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
