Axis is one of the GUIs, but there is a choice of them.
For initial setup you can use Stepconf to set up the parallel port connections.
For a 3-in-one machine you might want to create a different LinuxCNC
congiguration for each "mode".
My combined lathe/mill has two configurations which map the G-code
axes onto machine axes in different ways.
