At least on my Ubuntu 12.04, the default screenshot program (gnome-screenshot) knows at least three possible variants for taking a screenshot: - PrtSc -> Take image of full screen (including a possible extension on another monitor) - Alt + PrtSc -> Take image of only the window which currently has focus - Shift + PrtSc -> Lets me drag a rectangle around the region of interest, which can then be saved to a file In every case there is a popup window afterwards which lets me save the screenshot to a file (default ~/Pictures) or copy it to clipboard. Maybe someone on the list did not know all this already ;) Cheers, Philipp
