There's no Y axis. The cutting head is affixed to a gantry, and the cutting head moves in the Z axis and the gantry moves only in the Y axis. I'll see if I can post a picture or two of the machine later from home. I have mounted a DTI to the cutting head. That's how I manually mapped the variations in the top of the vacuum table.
