It is a $55 board with everything on it, including Ethernet and USB. There are "capes" which plug onto it to hold stepper drivers and other I/O stuff. It is often used for 3D printers, but could also run a small mill or router. Since it runs a full Linux implementation, you can run anything you want on it, in addition to the LinuxCNC version that comes with Machinekit.
