In Germany
a thousand Millions are a Milliard (10 to the 9th),
a thousand Milliards are a Billion (10 to the 12th),
a thousand Billions are a Trillion (10 to the 15th) etc.

This is in order to keep 1000 as a "every day" factor although the 
international system goes in steps of 1000000.
