Peter I tried the sample that you send and the error remains. Could it be that the 7i80 takes to long to respond. I looked at the code where the board is probed and it would seem that the read is performed directly after the send and if nothing is received it will give this error. I did not look deeper at the receive procedure to see if it actually waits for a packet or just goes on without waiting. It seems there is no timeout or delay.
