Resistors also have a maximum voltage rating regsrdless of the resistance, and can be silently destroyed in a circuit where the pulse voltage exceeds that even if the power being disappated is in microwatts. Even that size resistor has a peak pulse voltage rating of 250 volts, so that is not a factor here and they should last at least till the rapture. :) 1% however, is a more pricy item than a 5% or even a 10% tolerance version, and either of the latter is just as suitable.
