Hi Raymond,

 From your description your current hose is probably PVC. PVC is 
naturally quite hard but plasticizers are added to make it flexible. 
Over time those plasticizers break down and are dissolved by oils so the 
plastic hardens.

Urethane should be fine. It would probably be my choice in your 
situation. Fuel line would also work but you need to be aware that with 
most fuel lines only the inner is rated for fuel exposure. The sheath is 
often a different rubber which is not rated for continuous immersion. 
Another possibility would be hydraulic return hose. It is tough and 
resistant to most hydrocarbons. The down side is that it tends to be 
heavy and quite stiff.
