I have a few monitor issues in Debian Wheezy after updating a machine to the latest Debian Wheezy and Linuxcnc 2.7.3.
I sort of know what the issues are, I just need help in extracting myself from the hole I am in. In the my previous build, which was under Ubuntu, I was able to add some xrandr commands that I had found that worked to a file in gdm. However, it appears that Wheezy is using lightdm, not gdm, so that bandaid won’t work directly. I was able to issue my xrandr lines in a terminal and get the display to switch correctly, but the problem is I can't figure out how to make that permanent. I also have a more immediate problem. I managed to completely screw up the monitor settings so it is blank now. I think what I did was to select “None” for resolution from the Display GUI, but I am not 100% sure. I was trying to see if my new resolution (from xrandr commands) was in the list and boom, monitor goes blank. Why would “none” even be an option (if that is what I did)? Argh. So, I need help first in getting my monitor to come back at all. I can boot into safe mode (command line) but not sure what to edit or remove. After that I need to figure out where to put three xrandr commands so they are executed when the machine boots (or some other way to get the monitor set to it’s desired resolution - 19000X1280 @ 60Hz). The third (and more minor) issue is related to the Xfce (user interface) tool bars, they call them Panels. When I log in I get an Xfce Error that the Panels haven’t been saved (I say OK), and a second one that says they can’t be written without permission. Any idea how to get those to go away? -Tom ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list Emc-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
