What do they say about Chinese machines?: "Treat them as a kit. At least
you know the boltholes line up, and if it runs, the parts are likely to
be all there."

That said, my 800 kg mill-drill is Chinese, and hasn't needed any tweaks
to be eminently useful.

Sadly, it was the significantly more expensive Taiwanese lathe which had
the automatic feed's safety detent clutch seized by hydraulic lock in
the bores containing the detent balls, as shipping wax had run in behind
and set. My misfortune was to not take enough apart - that and the fact
that the shear pin didn't. Who'd bet against Murphy?
