Precisely the question I've been trying to drill down to for nearly a month now, Matsche. I am sorry if my frustration shows but it is what it is. If by the time the x motor psu finally arrives, and no solution has been found, I will clear off some space on a storage shelf above the spindle end of this machine, and park an old dell with a 5i25 card in it, on a shelf high enough it should be clear of flying swarf and see if it can talk to this 7i90 when reset to epp input mode. With a db25 style cable of about 6 or 7 feet long to reach inside the box to this 7i90 card. That won't be near as fast as this setup, but it seems to offer a better chance of working. Or, if I can find a linuxcnc compatible breakout, run two 26 pin cables to get enough I/O. But the bob's I have, while non-opto are fast enough, they have several i/o pins that aren't usefull as they are dedicated to mach stuff, so I actually get about 3 pins of input and about 7 pins of output. Can the 7i90 in epp mode talk to a 5i25 at usable speeds? If we cannot make this work by the time the psu arrives, I think this grand and expensive experiment will get its plug pulled. I have put way more time and $ in this than its worth. It did work, stunningly well, for a couple days. Why it stopped I have no clue other than apt updated the kernel and I didn't have it nailed to the rt kernel in /boot/config.txt. I do now. I thought I blew the pi with those crappy damned jumpers that kept falling off the pins, but I am tempted to reinstall the pi I took out, with this sd card in it, and see if the halrun stuff works. If it does, then IMNSHO it now fails because the linuxcnc was updated and broke something on the pi's.
