Greetings all;

I thought, while coffee is brewing, that I might add a page to the wiki,
but even after setting a login name and passwd as instructed, no login
or edit buttons can be found. I did not set an admin pw since it says
they are 100% optional.

So whats the next step?

I thought maybe it might be helpful to actually contribute instead of
being such a pest, and upload some snippets of my mills .hal file that
discovers the gear ratios between the index from the spindle encoder,
and the a/b signals from a different, higher resolution encoder driven
by the motors shaft, which by some calculator math, also scales a pyvcp
tach to show the correct speeds regardless of the gear its actually in,
could even be adapted to more than a two speed as long as the 'gearing'
has no friction slippage, meaning either gears or timing belts.

I find the gearing and the actual drive to be apparently more efficient
than previously used code which seemed to peak out at about 2800 in high
gear, now can reach slightly beyond 3000. The OEM spindle controller, a
thyristor based design, limited the thing to 2250 in fwd, and about 1100
in reverse has long since been tossed in the parts for cannibles box.

Adding a $21 1000 line encoder, directly on the rear of the motor, has
made a huge difference in how well it works.

Thanks everybody. Now, how do I add it to the wiki?

Cheers, Gene Heskett
